Director of Patent Acquisitions, Xiaomi
Mr. Shi has been serving at Xiaomi since Mar. 2016 as Patent Acquisition Director in charge of patent acquisition and valuation. Mr. Shi’s 30 years’ career includes a variety of business and technical capacities which cover the entire value chain of IP business in high tech industry. Meanwhile, Mr. Shi is the inventor of more than 60 patents.
Before joining Xiaomi，Mr. Shi was with Zhigu between Sep. 2012 and Feb. 2016 as a partner and Vice President in charge of intellectual property investment and operations. In 2014, as one of the two founding members, Mr. Shi raised the first IP fund in China – Ruichuang Patent Operation Fund.
Before returning to China in 2012, Mr. Shi had been served as Patent Licensing and Acquisition Manager at Intellectual Ventures in US for almost four years. As the Head of Patent Acquisition for Hardware Business Unit, Mr. Shi conducted valuation and acquisition of thousands of Patent Portfolios with an aggregated value of over a billion US dollars.
In 2001, after more than 5 years’ R&D, Product Development and Manufacturing experience in Semiconductor industry in Mainland China and Singapore, Mr. Shi joined Chipworks in Ottawa Canada as an Technical and Patent Analyst and late on was appointed as Senior Program Manager in charge of Patent Consulting, Licensing and Litigation Support Services for multiple Fortune 500 High Tech companies.
Mr. Shi graduated from Southeast University in China in 1995 with an Engineering Degree in Radio Engineering.
